Dr. Kurent received his M.D. from the University of Cincinnati, and completed residencies in Medicine and Neurology at the John Hopkins Hospital. He completed a geriatric medicine fellowship at the Harvard School of Public Health. He did fellowships in neuromuscular diseases and electromyography at the National Institute of Health.
Dr. Kurent is a Soros Faculty Scholar of the Project on Death in America, and a Mayday Pain and Society Fellow. He is a member of the MUSC Ethics Committee, South Carolina Medical Association Bioethics Committee and is Vice Chairman of the South Carolina Center for Gerontology.
